Reviews for The Grippe LP:
"During a recent show a friend sent me a text message from across the venue, "A Hammond organ is what my dreams sound like.” There has never been a more true word spoken about stepping into the mind of the Grippe.
Stu Crair (drums/percussion), Walter Hannah (organ/clav/Rhodes/bass keys), and Charlie Humphreys (guitar/vocals) make up this talented trio hailing from Fort Collins. Together, they weave a web of sounds with guitar laden hooks and organ forward tracks that can definitely lend themselves dreamlike. The term grippe is a British slang for illness or sickness, though the only illness you may contract is the uncontrollable urge to move your body. The combination of sounds they layer together has a retro-funk quality that reminds me of The New Mastersounds; it seems to fit as The Grippe has shared the stage with them, as well as Soulive, Garaj Mahal, and The Stanton Moore Trio, among others.
Their debut self-titled album that just came out in November and features Dominic Lalli (The Motet, Big Gigantic) on sax was engineered by Grammy award winning producer, David Glasser (String Cheese Incident, Dave Matthews Band). The best part of this album is that you can go to their website www.thegrippefunk.com and download it for free. It is a great snapshot of what one of their live shows can be like. If you like funky beats backing up serious instrumental grooves get sick with The Grippe.

"The Grippe definitely has the fever. This trio...is funky in a mellow way that keeps you feeling the music without overwhelming the senses."
- Stacy Nick, The Colordoan - 11/05/2009
"Cenetered around a funky, jazz-fusion, the Grippe takes their listeners on a voyage through modes and ryhthms as they debut their LP to the masses. ...you've got an album that's interesting and not to be missed."
